Sustainable Development Goals Tracker
In September 2015, every UN member state adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: 17 goals and 169 targets to end poverty, protect the planet and secure peace by 2030. This tracker explains each goal and follows it with live news and research.
The 17 goals
Where the world stands in 2026
These figures come from the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals Report 2026, released on July 7, 2026, which assessed the 139 targets with trend data. It found real gains, including nearly one billion more people with safely managed drinking water and a 30% fall in new HIV infections between 2015 and 2024, but warned that progress is too uneven to meet the 2030 deadline.
Canada and the 2030 Agenda
Canada has committed to the 2030 Agenda at home and abroad and publishes a national strategy, Moving forward together. Statistics Canada tracks Canadian progress on each goal.

No. The UN’s 2026 report found 36% of measurable targets on track or making moderate progress, 49% advancing too slowly and 15% going backwards.
